Elmer J. Schulz

Elmer J. Schulz, 80, of Rubicon, passed away Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, surrounded by his family.

Elmer was born May 7, 1929, in the town of Herman to Walter and Thekla (nee Quandt) Schulz. He was united in marriage to Elaine Meyer on May 17, 1951, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hill Point.

Elmer was a dairy farmer all of his life until his retirement in 1996. Elmer served on the Herman School Board for 12 years. He was on the Sire Selection Committee for A.B.S. and was a member of the National, State and County Holstein Association. He was a board member for Dodge County DHIA and sold Super Crost Seeds. Elmer was involved as a Dairy Leader for the Dodge County 4-H. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving as treasurer, singing in the choir and playing dartball. Elmer was also a member of the Hartford Senior Friends and served on the board. He was a member of the Hartford FFA Alumni and participated in the Partners of America Program.

Elmer is survived by his wife Elaine; his children, Richard (Jolene) of Neosho, Gerald (Linda) of Neosho, Jeffrey (Bonnie) of Rubicon, Glenn (Susan) Wagner of Watertown, Terry (Robin) of Hartford and Rodney (Amy) of Slinger; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter; his sisters-in-law, Viola Lueck, Margaret Jensen and Valera (the Rev. Willard) Koch; and brother-in-law, Elmer (Irmgard) Meyer. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Armin (Gladys) Schulz; his sister, Norma (Hillary) Strehlow; two brothers-in-law, the Rev. Gilmore Lueck and Robert Jensen.

Funeral Services for Elmer J. Schulz will be held Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, W691 Highway S, Hartford (Huilsburg), with the Rev. Daniel Falck officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union St., Hartford, and on Thursday, Sept. 24, from noon until the time of service at the church.

Internment will follow the service at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or to the wishes of the family are appreciated.
