James R. Koch, 61

James R. Koch, 61, of Menasha, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Aug. 27, 1948, in Stanley, son of the late Marvin and Annette (nee Cooley) Koch. Jim married Judith Casey on Feb. 14, 1998. She preceded him in death in 2007.

Jim served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. He retired from Valley Packaging Industry. Jim was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed spending time at his cottage on Mirror Lake in Goodman.

Survivors include two step-children, Daniel (Patti) Parker and Tim (Sandra) Parker; eight step-grandchildren, Casey, Camille, Justin, Ashley Kayla, Mike (Marcia), Doug (Leanne) and Lisa (Jason); six step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Karen (Hunter) Hofmann; a brother, Gerald Koch; two sistersin-law, Sandi (Steven) LaDuke and Mary Jane Schmidt; three nieces and nephews, Kelly Hofmann, Danica (John) Place and Wendy Skebba.

The funeral service will be held at Menasha’s Westgor Funeral Home on Saturday, April 10, 2010, at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Hunter Hofmann officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2 p.m. until the hour of service. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Kaukauna.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established for Theda Care at Home Hospice, the American Cancer Society or the Winnebago County Humane Association.
