Susan M. Schmidt, 57


Susan M. Schmidt, 57, of the town of Mitchell, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2010, with her family at her side, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk.

She was born on June 14, 1952, in Rhinelander, the daughter of the late Robert and Geraldine (nee Coats) Nehls Formella. She was united in marriage on Jan. 19, 1974, to Martin "Dale" Schmidt in Brookfield.

Susan was employed by J.C. Penney in Wauwatosa for 34 years and most recently worked at Hoeft’s Resort and Campground on Crooked Lake and the YMCA Camp Matawa. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in New Fane and a former member of the Dundee Lions Club.

Those Susan leaves behind to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Dale; three stepsons, Rick (Lisa) Schmidt of Menomonee Falls, Scott (Michele) Schmidt of Brookfield and Kurt Schmidt of Milwaukee; her sisters and brother, Deborah (Tom) Otto of Germantown, Mary (Ken) Nelson of Mesquite, Nev., Bob (Christine) Formella of Hartford, Margaret Mahlberg of Colgate, Marilyn Formella of Hales Corners and Marcia (William) Nosko of Saukville; three step-grandchildren, Angela, Venessa and Brandon Schmidt; her nieces, Nicole (Dan) Janke and Amanda Otto; her nephew, Jason (Deanna) Otto and their daughter, Kylie, other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Susan will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at St. John Lutheran Church in New Fane. The Rev. Mark Eckert will officiate. Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday in the church cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 3 p.m. until the time of services.
