James R. Koch, 61


James R. Koch, 61, of Menasha, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Aug. 27, 1948, in Stanley, the son of Marvin and Annette (Cooley) Koch. Jim married Judith Casey on Feb. 14, 1998.  She preceded him in death in 2007.

Jim served in the U.S. Army, being stationed in Germany. He retired from Valley Packaging Industry.  Jim was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed spending time at his cottage on Mirror Lake in Goodman.

Survivors include two step-children, Daniel (Patti) Parker and Tim (Sandra) Parker; eight step-grandchildren, Casey, Camille, Justin, Ashley, Kayla, Mike (Marcia), Doug (Leanne) and Lisa (Jason); six step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Karen (Hunter) Hofmann; a brother, Gerald Koch; two sisters-in-law, Sandi (Steven) LaDuke and Mary Jane Schmidt; three nieces and nephews, Kelly Hofmann, Danica (John) Place and Wendy Skebba.

The funeral service was held at Menashaís Westgor Funeral Home on Saturday, April 10, 2010, with  Hunter Hofmann officiating. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established for ThedaCare at Home Hospice, the American Cancer Society or the Winnebago County Humane Association.

The family would like to thank the volunteers, CNAs and nurses of ThedaCare at Home Hospice for all their wonderful care of Jim.

God grant that I may live to fish, until my dying day, and when it comes to my last cast, I then most humbly pray, when in the Lordís safe landing net, Iím peacefully asleep, that in His mercy I be judged as good enough to keep.
