Hubert B. ‘Scooter’ Scott, 73
Hubert B. "Scooter" Scott, 73, of West Bend, formerly of Madison, S.D., passed away Monday, April 26, 2010, at his daughter’s residence in West Bend.
Hubert was born Dec. 31, 1936, in Artesian, S.D., to Clyde and Edith (nee Wise) Scott. He attended Artesian Grade School and graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959 and married Connie Lou Schneider on Oct. 22, 1960, at United Methodist Church in Madison, S.D. Hubert worked at the John Morrell Packing Plant in Madison, S.D., until it closed. Then he moved his family to West Bend in 1970. After working at the West Bend Co. and Gehl Co., Hubert settled in at Barton Products Corp. as a screw machine operator, retiring in 1997. After retiring, he bartended part-time at Moonlighting Lounge in West Bend, where he enjoyed camaraderie and friendship. Hubert was an avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing since he was a kid. He had a special fondness for birds and made it a priority to keep his feeders full.
Survivors include one son, Larry (Mikki) Scott of Rutland, S.D.; one daughter, Karla (Matt) Teetzen of West Bend; five grandchildren, Derrick Glander of Egan, S.D., Tiffany Scott of Rutland, S.D., A.J. Breger of Waukesha, Lance Cpl. Ryan Klug USMC currently serving in Helmand Province, Afghani-stan, and April Klug of West Bend; and one g re at - g r a n d s o n , James Scott. He is also survived by two sisters, Arlene (Wayne) Moore of Mitchell, S.D., and Luella Warnken of Denver, Colo.; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Schneider of West Bend; three sisters-in-law, Janet Scott of Highmore, S.D., Bonnie Erickson (Mike Ruvin) of Cedarburg and Linda Kiekhaefer (Joe Lidington) of Allenton; two brothers-in-law, John (Jan) Schneider of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Jerry Schneider of Fond du Lac; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie in 1987; his parents; one brother, Stuart Scott; and one niece.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 29, in West Bend with time and place to be announced at a later date. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Ellsworth Funeral Home, 321 N. Egan Road, Madison, S.D., with the Rev. Gene Kroger officiating. Visitation begins at 9 a.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Artesian, S.D., with full military honors.
