Carol L. Seippel
Carol L. Seippel (nee Miller) entered into
God’s care on Wednesday, July 28, 2010. She would have been 100
years old on September 1st. She was the loving mother of Janice
(William) Davis of Thiensville, and the late Paul (Marilyn) Seippel, Jr.
of Plymouth MI. Dear grandmother of Steven (Sally) Seippel, Jeffrey
(Lori) Seippel and Kristine Seippel, all of southeastern Michigan; and
Denise (Manuel Garcia) Davis and Marc Davis, both of the Milwaukee area;
and Karen Davis of Boulder CO. Great grandmother of Kurt, Chad,
Sarah, Kyle and Blake Seippel.
Carol was born in Flushing MI on September 1, 1910, the only child of
Walter and Edith (nee Stierle) Miller. She spent most of her
childhood on the family farm. Carol’s most constant childhood
companion was the family dog, Rover. Her lifelong love of animals
was born in these early years. While in her 90’s, two Oriental
cats provided her with much comfort and entertainment. Carol moved
to Ann Arbor MI when she was 18 years old. She married Paul W.
Seippel on September 18, 1932. He preceded her in death in 2002.
After graduating from the Ann Arbor Practical Nurse Education Center in
1956, Carol became a private duty nurse. Her patients and their
families greatly appreciated her capable and compassionate manner.
Carol learned to ski in her 40’s and enjoyed ski trips to both eastern
and western U.S. ski resorts. Vacations in northern Michigan were
always a favorite family memory. An excellent seamstress, in her
earlier years Carol made fur-trimmed coats, snowsuits and elaborate dance
costumes for her daughter. Politics was a great interest in her
senior years, and she was generally very well-informed about issues and
events in American life.
Carol will always be remembered and appreciated for her loving and
generous nature.
The family wishes to thank Vitas Hospice for the care and support they
gave her during her last two weeks. Also, special thanks to very
caring friends Denise and Jean-Claude Siegfried, Karen Boeselager and Don
Hansen who provided invaluable assistance for several years. Carol
was thankful that she was able to live independently until the last few
weeks of her life. If desired, donations in Carol’s name to the
Ozaukee County Humane Society would be appreciated. Burial services
will be held on September 11, 2010, at St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Dexter
MI. Mueller Funeral Home of Cedarburg is assisting the family.
