Florence M. Fank, 91

A funeral service will be held today, Aug. 10, 2010, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Grafton, for Florence M. Fank, 91, of Grafton who died on Aug. 5, 2010. Visitation will be at the church today from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.

Florence was born in Milwaukee on March 17, 1919, to Walter and Edna (nee Beckmann) Schmidt.

Florence served her country as a nurse in the Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946. Afterward, she was a delivery room nurse at Lutheran Hospital. Florence married August Fank in 1947. She gave up nursing to become a stay-at-home mother until her youngest daughter was old enough to attend school. Along the way, they moved to Grafton in 1952 where August became the owner of Grafton Printer.

Church was also an important part of Florence’s life, and she was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and Ladies Aid.  She was also a member of the Ozaukee County Extension Homemaker’s Club.  Florence was an avid reader.

Florence is survived by her daughters, Christine (David) Roberts and Edna (Mark) Hayman; daughter-in-law, Mickey Fank; grandchildren, Melissa (J.J.), Beth (Keith), Michelle (Brad), Megan (Matt), Patti (Curt); Mike and Billy; great-grandchildren, Abby, Charlotte, Liam and Gabe; sister, Marion (the late Robert) Macejkovic; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, August, and her son, Robert.
