Ervin W. Kannass, 88

Ervin W. Kannass of Hartford passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, at the age of 88 years.

He was born on Feb. 27, the son of Otto and Violet (nee Schwantz) Kannass. Erv was a person who worked hard and always tried to make things better than he found them. Early in life, he was a farmer, then owned and operated the Arctic Circle Locker Plant and then Ervís Liquor Mart. He retired in 1983. Erv was married to Vivian for 63 years. His life revolved around family, friends, the church, gardening and fishing. We will miss his sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian (nee Johnson) Kannass; his children, Karen (Jerry) Vredeveld and Brian (Kim) Kannass, all of Hartford; his grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Michaels of Waukesha and Jodi (Andy) Powers of Madison; his great-grandchildren , Hannah Michaels, Adam Michaels and Max Powers; and his sister, Esther Thayer of White-water. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Erv is preceded in death by his brother, Ray.

Visitation will be Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, 226 S. Main St., Hartford. Funeral Service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Jack Freiheit will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Johnís United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 228 W. State St., Hartford, WI 53027, would be appreciated.
