Ethel ‘Jane’ Rau, 86
Ethel
"Jane" Rau, 86, formerly of Beaver Dam, currently residing in
Jackson, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in
Milwaukee.
The former Ethel Jane Mallon was born on June 10, 1924, in Beaver Dam, to
the late Joseph and Mary (nee Eggelston) Mallon. On March 6, 1943, she was
united in marriage with Vernon O. Rau in Beaver Dam. Together they owned
and operated Vern and Jane’s Bar and Restaurant in Jackson for 25 years.
Jane was proud of her Irish heritage, and her red hair too. She loved her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was an avid Packer fan.
Survivors include her three children, Chuck (Pam) Rau of Claremont,
Calif., Karen Bilgrien of Adams Friendship and R. Elaine Glander of
Horicon; 10 grandchildren, Christine LeAire of Puyallup, Wash., Travis Rau
of Las Vegas, Nev., Kelly (Chris) Smith of Paris, Calif., Samantha Rau of
Ontario, Calif., Bruce (Dee) Riege of Racine, Todd (Michal) Riege of
Colgate, Brenda (Jim) Mutz of Cedarburg, Stuart Glander Jr. of Iron Ridge,
Gwen (Matt) Christianson of West Bend and Amy (Jasson) Johnson of Lomira;
10 great grandchildren, Benjamin, Sebastian, Wesley, Cheyenne, Rey, Gus,
Martha, Braeden, Bryce and Izak; her brother, Bill (Arlene) Mallon of
Beaver Dam; her sister, Jean Elliott of Madison; her sister-in-law, Joyce
Indermuehle; her brother-in-law, Bob (Florence) Rau; and many other
relatives and friends.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and four sisters.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Murray Funeral Home in Horicon on
Friday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A memorial service will follow
at the funeral home on Friday, beginning at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. Mike
Petrie will officiate. Private family inurnment will be at St. Peter’s
Cemetery in the town of Beaver Dam, Dodge County.
