Gerald H. ‘Jerry’ Knuth
Gerald "Jerry" H. Knuth, 85, of the town of West Bend, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010.
He was born in Milford, Neb., on Feb. 4, 1925, the son of Harry and Lydia (nee Barth) Knuth.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was very proud of his service.
He married Esther Sheets in 1944 and was a dairy farmer in the state of Washington. In 1964 he moved back to Nebraska and worked for E&K Drywall and in the late 1960s he became the owner of Knuth Drywall Service in West Bend.
Gerald was very active in the Lt. Ray Dickop Post 36 American Legion, local tractor clubs and the Dodge County EAA Flyers Club Chapter 897.
He is survived by his three children, Laura, Lonnie and Lance Knuth; his siblings, Dick Knuth, Don Knuth, Robert Knuth, Merle Knuth, Margaret Hoover, Doris Tryor and their spouses. He is further survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lydia Knuth; and his brothers, Lawrence and Wilber Knuth.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 7, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend. Additional visitation and funeral services will be held in Goehner, Neb., with inurnment in Salem Cemetery.
Memorials to the Dodge County EAA Flyers Club Chapter 897 are appreciated.
