Donald E. Burrough

Donald E. Burrough, 90, of Silvis, Ill., died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010. A former resident of Lucerne, Ind., he re-cently relocated from West Bend to Silvis, Ill.

Born July 12, 1920, in Lucerne, Ind., Donald was the son of Frederick A. and Louise (Beard) Burrough. He was married July 4, 1943, in Logansport, Ind., to Virginia R. (Ryan) Burrough who passed away earlier this year.

A graduate of Lucerne High School and Purdue University, Donald was a devoted husband and father. He was a veteran of WWII having served as a navigator with the Naval Air Corps in the Pacific. Following WWII and graduation from Purdue, he served a short tenure as associate professor at Purdue and then pursued a career in the farm equipment manufacturing business, working fo J.I. Case, John Deere and Gehl Company. He retired from Gehl Company in 1985 as Vice President of Engineering.

His hobbies included playing golf and studying investment strategies. Donald enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending winters in Arizona.

Surviving are two sons, Donald L. (Sue) Burrough, of Silvis, Ill., and John Ryan (Carolyn) Burrough, of John-ston, Iowa; one daughter, Gini L. (Steve) Curry, of Re y n o l d s bu r g , Ohio; one brother, Raymond Burrough, of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Ivor, Alex, Arthur, William, Edgar and John Burrough.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, in Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport, Ind., with Celebrant Patricia Fisher officiating. Interment, with full military rites, will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport, Ind.

Friends may call from noon until the time of services in the funeral chapel.
