Dorothy M. Smith (nee Hardwick), 93, of West Bend, formerly of Cortland, Ohio, died on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at The Kathy Hospice.

She was born on May 23, 1917, in Buffalo, N.Y. As a young child, the family moved to Ohio, living in Mineral Ridge.

On Jan. 26, 1938, she was united in marriage to William R. Smith in West Virginia. William predeceased Feb. 25, 2005.

About 10 years ago, Dorothy and William moved to West Bend to be closer to family. Her giving spirit will be dearly missed.

Survivors include a daughter, Janine Roman of West Bend; five grandsons, Ryan, Kevin and Brandon Roman and Robert "Robbie" (Lucy) Smith and Daniel (Cindy) Smith; a sister-inlaw, Maxine Smith of Ohio; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Dale; and her parents, William and Martha (nee Gradwell) Hardwick.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, Dec. 22, in Ohio.
