Bernard Wagner, 89
Bernard Wagner, 89, died on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010 at his residence.
Bernard was born on Nov. 19, 1921 to Harry and Anna (nee Dinkel). He served as private first class in United States Marine Corp in the Pacific Area from 1944-1946. Bernard married Margaret “Margie” (nee Kircher) on Jan. 4, 1949. He also served as the first alderman when the Village of Barton was annexed to the city of West Bend. He was instrumental in having the city provide playground equipment, including the tennis court for the Barton Park. He worked at Gehl Company for 30 years as a plant engineer. Bernard was a member of the VFW and Knights of Columbus. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and also enjoyed many other pastimes.
Bernard is survived by his children Ken, Dianne (Mike) Emmert, Gerald (Luci), Nancy (James) Shafer, David (Laura), Jane (Jay) Wagner, Amy (Kenneth) Tacke, and Bernard (Dawn); grandchildren Jessica, Margaret, Timothy, Christopher, Leah, Jeff, Sarah, James III, Daniel, Isaac, Kayla, and Eliza; great grandchildren Mark, Alexandra, Samantha, Ashlynn, and Gabriel; sister in law Ruth Glander, and his siblings Wilma, Sugar, Bob, Ken, Harvey and Jerry. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Bernard is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister Dorothy Ann.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Bernard will be at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010 at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 406 Jefferson St. in West Bend with the Rev. Michael Moran presiding. Gathering will be from 3 p.m. until time of Mass on Tuesday, Dec. 28 at the church. Memorials are appreciated to St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church.
