James E. Mader, 79
James E. Mader, 79, of West Bend, passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010.
Jim was born on June 29, 1931, to Edward and Theresa "Tess" (nee Mouty) Mader in Shawano, and was raised in Gresham. He attended Gresham Grade School and Gresham High School, class of 1948, and then went to St. Norbert College. After college, Jim served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953 with the First Marine Division in Korea. He then attended the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science and graduated in the class of 1955. Jim married Letitia M. (nee Brunner) on June 9, 1955, at St. Maryís Catholic Church in Leopolis. Jim was a funeral director for Keircher Funeral Home of New London, Moul Funeral Home of Mayville, Brett Funeral Home of Milwaukee and currently for Phillip Funeral Home. Jim loved fishing and hunting deer and turkey. He served as and instructor for the West Bend Hunter Safety Education for 35 years. Jim was a member of the VFW Post No. 1398 and the Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association, in which he received a plaque for 50 years of service.
Jim is survived by his wife, Letitia; children, Bridget of Franklin, Timothy of Mayville, Alison (Keith) Daniels of Madison, Charles of Kansas City, Mo., William (Lisa) of Fond du Lac and Michael of Slinger. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Ian, Evan, Austin, Rebecca, Kaitlin, Nick, Kyle, Marcus, Scott and Kayla; great-granddaughter, Addison; sister, Carol (Fred) Warnecke of Berlin; brother, Mark (Barbara) Mader of Gresham; special family friend, Dolores Quast; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Joan Bowe and Gail Mader; and brother-in-law, Donald Bowe.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30, at Holy Angelís Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerald Brittain presiding. Visitation will be at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, Dec. 29, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a prayer vigil at 7 p.m. Closing of casket prayers will be at the funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 30, at 10 a.m. Memorials are appreciated to West Bend Hunter Safety Education.
