Elmer Paul Margelofsky
Elmer Paul Margelofsky, 94, passed into the arms of his Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at his home in Mayville.
Elmer was born on Aug. 6, 1916, in Neosho to Herman and Leona (nee Polster) Margelofsky. He was united in marriage to Verda Schrab on Nov. 1, 1941, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Theresa.
Elmer was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church (River Church), town of Theresa. He served as head usher and was a member of the school board and building committee. Elmer was engaged in farming in the Theresa area for most of his life. He retired from Red Rooster Cheese Co. in 1979. He served on the Theresa town board for many years. During World War II, he was awarded the Army Ordnance Award for Meritorious War Productions while working at Maysteel Products in Mayville. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing sheepshead and fishing at Rollingstone.
Elmer is survived by his wife Verda of 69 years; four children, Luanne (Carl) Tighe of Mayville; Karen (Dick) Spiering of West Bend; Merle (Lorraine) Margelofsky of Tucson, Ariz.; and Larry (Cindy) Margelofsky of Van Dyne; three sisters, Evelyn Horst of Hartford, Lucille Wendorff of Mayville and Erna Liegl of Horicon; eight grandchildren, Janell (Bret) Loescher, Joann (James) Reed, Tony (Jenny) Chemer, Troy Margelofsky, Dr. Tara (Dan) Saunders, Lara Margelofsky, Brock Margelofsky, Sarah Margelofsky; 10 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wilbert; and two grandsons, Joel Muche and Tyler Chemer
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 3, at Immanuel Lutheran Church (River Church), town of Theresa, with the Rev. Douglas J. Zahner officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, town of Theresa.
