Thelma Zintek

Thelma Zintek (nee Crowl), of Richfield, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, in her 100th year, at her home in the loving arms of her family.

Thelma was born on Jan. 24, 1911, in Elgin, Ill. to Charles and Lucille (nee McCloskey) Crowl. Thelma was united in marriage to Arthur R. Zintek on Aug. 29, 1934, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Milwaukee.

Thelma was proud to be the wife of Arthur and loving mother to her children. She loved northern Wisconsin and left that legacy of appreciation to her entire family. She enjoyed telling stories, especially to her grandchildren.

Thelma was an accomplished artist, and seamstress, who loved cooking and passed on treasured recipes. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Richfield and as a Christian Mother served many years as Sacristan. At the age of 82, she became a world traveler.

She is survived by her children Cathleen A. (James) Johnston of Wauwatosa, Betty Jo (Andrew) Azpell of Elm Grove, Carol L. (Richard) Cinclair of Plano Texas, Mary Ellen Wenninger of Hartford, Arthur Zintek of Elm Grove, and Anne M. ( David) Wenninger of Hartford. Also survived by 22 grandchildren, Jane Clements, Judy Helgeson, George Reichert, Michael Reichert, Margo Wells, James Johnston, Mary Johnston, Jill Perret, Matthew Johnston, Andrew Johnston, Donald Berghammer, Katy Schlidt, Joe Berghammer, John Azpell, Richard Cinclair, David Cinclair, Robert Cinclair, Carol Pearl, Anne Gehring, Mary Beth Wenninger, Megan Zintek and Erin Zintek; 54 great grandchildren; and her brother, Clinton C. Crowl.

Thelma is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur, her daughters Mary Margaret Zintek and Margaret Mary Reichert Smithson, her daughter-inlaw Sue Zintek and her sons-in-law, John Wenninger and Donald Berghammer and a brother Lawrence Crowl.

Mass of Christian burial for Thelma will be at noon on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at The Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Help of Christians at Holy Hill. 1525 Carmel Road, Hubertus.

Visitation will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon at the Shrine Chapel.

Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Richfield.
