Goldie Mae Schmidt, 84
Goldie Mae Schmidt (nee Biertzer), 84, of Random Lake, passed away Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at the Sharon R. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls.
She was born on Jan. 13, 1926, in LeRoy to the late Peter and Ida (nee Meyer) Biertzer. On Sept. 29, 1951, she was united in marriage to Gerhard August Schmidt at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church in Barton. Goldie enjoyed working on the farm with Gerhard and living a country life. Gerhard preceded her in death on June 1, 1998.
Goldie enjoyed playing sheepshead, working on puzzle books and playing games with her great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her two children, Geri (Winston) Martin of Kewaskum and Gail (Terry) Gildemeister of Random Lake; two grandchildren, Glen (Shelly) Gildemeister of Random Lake and Tracy (Lee) Gordon of Sheboygan; four great-grandchildren, Zachary and Tania Gordon, Dylan and Haleigh Gildemeister; two brothers, Jim (Mary) Biertzer of Kewaskum and Donny (Bernie) Biertzer of West Bend; two sisters, Beady Dahm of Coloma and JoAnn Lentz of Friendship. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Goldie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerhard; brother, Miland (Mary Ann) Biertzer; sister-in-law, Ginny Biertzer; three brothers-in-law, Norman Dahm, David Lentz and Monroe Schmidt; and nephew, Craig Schmidt.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 2:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lakes – St. Mary’s Chapel, 230 Butler St., Random Lake. The Rev. Richard Cerpich will officiate. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from noon until the time of the Mass. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Sherman Center.
