Beatrice R. Liegl, 94


Beatrice R. Liegl, (nee Oechsner), 94, of West Bend, passed away Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at Friendship House of Cedar Community.

She was born on July 27, 1915, in Leroy to the late Linus and Lucy (nee Schraufnagel) Oechsner. Beatrice was united in marriage to Adolph Liegl on May 31, 1938, at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Leroy. Together they made their home in West Bend. Adolph preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 1972.

Bea was a supervisor at Amity Leather for 26 years before she retired in 1979 and was a member of Amity's 25-year club.

She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Holy Angles Mission Circle, Holy Angels Christian Women, and St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary. Bea was an active volunteer for the Good Samaritan Guild and the Samaritan Home.

Beatrice is survived by her daughter, Donna (Paul) Albinger of West Bend; five grandchildren, Michael (Sandra) Albinger, Sandra (Jeff) Sheridan, John Liegl, Susan (Jason) Stepp and Cheri (Michael) Norris; eight great-grandchildren, Amy, Adam, Blake, Jennifer, Justin, Lexi, Matt, Brandon and Zachary; daughter-inlaw Kay (Gene) Schmid of Pewaukee; sister, Mary Ellen (Don) Lloyd of Fond du Lac; brother-in-law Franklin Schwamb of Waupaca; three sis ters-in-law, Jeanette Oechsner of Hartford, Pearl Oechsner of Theresa and Florence Vollmer of Fond du Lac; other relatives and friends.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Adolph; her son, Kenneth Liegl; three sisters, Gertrude Oechsner, Betty (Bob) Byrnes and Maxine Schwamb; two brothers, Hubert and Russell Oechsner; and a brother-inlaw, Leo McArdle.

A Mass of Christian burial in remembrance of Beatrice will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m., at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 138 N. 8th Ave., West Bend. The Rev. Jerry Brittain will be the celebrant. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. Entombment will take place in Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield.

Memorials to Holy Angels School Trust Fund or Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated.
