David C. Borgwordt, 34, of West Bend entered eternal life surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa, after six years of a heroic struggle with cancer.
He was born on Aug. 14, 1975, in Milwaukee to Monica Hurt and Dennis Borgwordt. On Oct. 14, 2000, he was united in marriage to Tanya Williams at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in West Bend.
Dave graduated from Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay. In May, 1997, he completed basic recruit training with the Milwaukee Police Department. He later received a degree in police science from Milwaukee Area Technical College in 1999. Dave then earned his bachelor’s degree from Concordia University in 2007. He was currently working on his masters degree in public policy and administration.
Dave enjoyed being active and spending time with family, friends and his dog. A few of the activities he enjoyed included biking, triathalons, duathalons, working out at the YMCA, traveling, relaxing, watching movies, weight lifting, tennis, golf and traveling to Wisconsin Dells with his wife.
He is survived by his wife, Tanya of West Bend; his mother, Monica Hurt; his father, Dennis Borgwordt; parents-in-law Jane (Jerry) Ziegler and Don (Arlene) Williams; brother-in-law, Jeremy (Tara) Ziegler; sister-in-law, Megan (Mike) Ziegler-Degenmany; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, March 1, at 3 p.m. at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial following in St. Mary’s Cemetery (new). The family will greet relatives and friends during a period of visitation at the church on Monday from noon until 2:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Masses or memorials to the American Cancer Society or for the benefit of the family are appreciated.
