Carol O. Klassen Selsing (nee Liermann)

Carol O. Klassen Selsing (nee Liermann) passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at 11:11 a.m. at Community Memorial Hospital.

Carol was born in Milwaukee to Vernon and Betty Mae (nee Brandstetter) Liermann and moved to West Bend as an infant. After her children were grown, Carol went back to school and received her degree as a registered nurse. With this, she worked at the Cedar Campuses for five years and also at Cedar Springs for several months before being diagnosed with cancer.

Carol is survived by her husband, Robert Selsing; four children, Suzanne E. (Robert) Stone of Colgate, Lori Klassen, James J. (Lani) Klassen of Port Washington and Nicholas A. (fiancee' Heather Burgard) Selsing of Fort Collins, Colo. She is a loving grandma to nine grandchildren, Jason M. (Sherry) Schultz of Madison; Karl, Arthur and Kenneth E. Stone all of Colgate; Joseph P., Daniel, and Samuel Engeleiter all of Hartford and Sarah J. and George Klassen of Port Washington. Carol is further survived by her brother, Gerald V. (Christine) Liermann; brothers-in-law, Terry Selsing of Rubicon and Jack Selsing of Portland, Ore., a very special aunt, Lillian Oelhafen. “What a role model you have been. Judy, I’m sure you know how lucky you are to have a mom like her.” Carol will be dearly missed by many other relatives, friends and classmates.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon A. Liermann and Betty Mae Moritz; step-dad, Earl Moritz and close friend, Judy Preo.

A memorial service for Carol will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at the Phillip Funeral Home, 1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend, with the Rev. Cheryl Matusiak officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from noon until the start of services. Memorials are appreciated to the family, Kathy Hospice or the charity of your choice.
