Eileen Brooks Poister, 88

Eileen Brooks Poister went to her eternal rest on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009. She had been a resident of Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Port Washington, since November 2006. While there she continued to enjoy her many games of Scrabble until just a few months prior to her death.

Eileen was born on April 3, 1921, to Mildred Kensley and J. Douglas Brooks in New Brighton, Pa. She graduated from high school in Beaver Falls, Pa. She attained an undergraduate degree in home economics education from Indiana State Teachers College (Indiana University of Pa.)

Eileen married Paul E. Poister on Aug. 1, 1942.  Following Paulís death in 1952 she attended graduate school at the University of Pittsburgh and was awarded a Master of Social Work degree.  Eileen held various professional positions throughout her career including director of childrenís services for Beaver County, Pa., and director of the Young Womenís Residence, St. Petersburg, Fla.

Eileen is survived by a brother,  Douglas K. Brooks, wife Marian, Raleigh, N.C.; a sister, Melva  Jimerson,  Washington, D.C.; three children, Marilyn Livingston,  Orlando, Fla., Barbara Jordan, Mequon, and  Ronald B. Poister, wife Joyce,  DePere; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 19 nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul, an infant daughter and her beloved grandson, Chris Livingston.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m. at Crossroads Presbyterian Church6031 West Chapel Hill Road, Mequon.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the College Hill Presbyterian Church, 3400 5th Ave., Beaver Falls, Pa. 15010, where Eileen raised her three children, Ron, Barb and Marilyn.
