Robert Fritz, 83, of Bowler, formerly of Hartford passed away Monday, January 11, 2010 at his residence.

Robert was born June 1, 1926 in Hartford to Peter and Leona (nee Margelowsky) Fritz. He was united in marriage to Marlene Burg on Sept. 24, 1955, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hartford; she preceded him in death in 1993.

Robert worked for Kraft Foods and Midas International in Hartford for over 38 years. He enjoyed hobby farming, playing cards and gardening. Robert was a member of the American Legion V.F.W. Post 8834 in Hartford. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart.

Robert is survived by his children Karen (Frank) Beder of Iron Ridge, Daryl Fritz of Mattoon, Susan (friend Roy) Fritz of Birnamwood, Denice (friend Mike) Fritz of Iron Ridge, Tom (Brenda) Fritz of Birnamwood, Keith (Dawn) of Allenton, Barbara (Russ) Gross of Kewaskum, and Darnell (Crystal) Burg of Hartford whom they raised as a son; 10 grandchildren, Craig, Chris (Jordan), Nicole (Leo) Tiffany, Joshua, Michael, Stephen, Amanda, Billy; three great grandchildren Damian, Alyssa, and Rianna; his sisters and brother, Delores (Silver) Polster of Theresa, Betty (Albert) Soschinski of Hartford, and Leroy (Marion) Fritz of Montello; and one brother-in-law, Lyle Becker of Kiel. Robert is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marlene, his sister Joyce, and grand daughter Tammy Beder.

Funeral services for Robert will be held Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at 7 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union St., Hartford, with Chaplain David Stone officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. with military rights.
