June E. Grundahl

June E. Grundahl (nee Engelstad), 91, of West Bend, passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 at Friendship House at Cedar Community.

June was born on Sept. 4, 1918 in Aneta, N.D. to Robert C. and Marthilda (nee Huso) Engelstad. She graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. in 1939 and then interned and worked in dietetics in Seattle, Wash. June married Dr. Alvin T. Grundahl on Oct. 24, 1942. At that time, she worked at the U.S. Navy Pre-flight School in Iowa City, Iowa as a dietician. The couple moved to West Bend in 1946. June was a member of the hospital auxiliary, Washington/Ozaukee County Medical Auxiliary president, St. Joseph's Community Hospital Auxiliary, charter member and choir member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, West Bend Country Club, past president and member of the Women of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and a past member of West Bend Women's Club.

June is survived by her loving husband Alvin, children Susan Grundahl of Tacoma, Wash., John (Karen) of West Bend and Kathleen W.(Stan) Wendland of Minneapolis, Minn. She is further survived by her grandchildren Erik M. Wendland, Rachel K. (Matthew) Schemelin, Kjerstin A. Wendland, Aaron J. (Anne) Grundahl, Nicholas A.J. Wendland, Linnea E. Wendland, Sarah K. Grundahl, Heidi M. Wendland, greatgrandsons Tore Schemelin and Noah Grundahl, brother and sister-in-law Robert C. and Dede Engelstad of Rio Verde, Ariz., sister Marion R. Rice of Malvern, Pa., sister-in-law, Ruth Engelstad of Moorhead, Minn., nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Norton Engelstad.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010 at the Our Savior's Lutheran Church of West Bend with the Rev. Pam Marolla officiating. Visitation will be at Phillip Funeral Home on Tuesday, Jan. 19 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with continued visitation on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church from 11 a.m. until time of service. Memorials in June's name are appreciated to Our Savior's Lutheran Church of West Bend.
