Frances V. Scherer (nee Parchim)

Frances V. Scherer (nee Parchim) of Lomira, formerly of Cedarburg and Allenton, passed away Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at the Kathy Hospice.

Frances was born in Milwaukee on Feb. 4, 1924, to August and Clara (nee Schwartz) Parchim. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Grafton through the eighth grade. Frances worked at various factories in both Cedarburg and Grafton. On May 1, 1948, she married Arthur Scherer of Newburg. Together they had six children while simultaneously building Scherer Die Casting, Inc. She was a woman of many talents and had little fear of a challenge. Around 1967, Art and Fran moved to Allenton and started Inland Tool, Inc. Upon retirement, Fran used her time to enjoy her grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and the occasional bingo bus with her brothers and sister. She also enjoyed polka music, going to German Fest and celebrating with the German toast, “Zicke, zacke, zicke, zacke! Hoi, hoi, hoi!”

Frances is survived by her loving children, Arthur “Jim” (Jane) Scherer, Kathleen M. (Ed) Dassow-Scherer, Richard A. (Donna Mae) Scherer, Robert (girlfriend, Kathy) Scherer and Paul D. (Cara) Scherer. She is the loving grandma to Lori (Robbin) Baars, Erik (Brooke) Scherer, Angela J. (Cory) Ritger-Scherer, Jennifer M. (Eric) Retzlaff, James Scherer, Sandra Scherer, Michelle A. (Samuel) Polk, Sara Scherer, Katherine M. (Steven) Gilmeister, Paula Scherer and Jacob Scherer. Fran is the loving great-grandma to Ella and Matthias Baars, Caden and Kenzie Ritger, Luke and Joel Retzlaff, Jaydin Boesen, Arabella Gilmeister and the soon-arriving Baby Polk. She is further survived by siblings, John (Doris) Parchim, Edmund (Rosemary) Parchim, Delores Mueller and August (Bernice) Parchim; and countless nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband, Arthur F. Scherer; parents, August and Clara Parchim; in-laws, Arthur and Johanna Scherer; daughter, Sandra Scherer; John (Jeanette) Scherer, George (Dorothy) Scherer, Mary Scherer, David Mueller; and infant sister, Leona Parchim.
