Beulah ‘Bea’ Harrer, 83

Beulah "Bea" Harrer, 83, of Park Ridge, passed away unexpectedly June 28, 2010 at her home.

Bea was born Oct. 22, 1926, in Newburg, the daughter of John and Theresa (nee Bahr) Redlinger. After attending West Bend High School she graduated from beauty school and began a career as a beautician in the Milwaukee area.

She married George Harrer in Milwaukee in 1957. The couple moved to Park Ridge in 1960, where Bea worked at Jean’s Beauty Bar for many years. She was the longtime children’s crossing guard at the intersection of Highway 10 and Sunset Avenue, having just completed the school year this past June. She enjoyed knitting and donated many of her creations. She previously liked to bowl with her friends in league play and cooking at the former American Legion Post No. 6 clubhouse.

Bea is survived by her two brothers, Emil Redlinger of Milwaukee and James Redlinger of Newburg; and one sister, Norma Gildemeister of Eagle River. Her eight nieces and nephews, Gary and John Redlinger, Mike Gildemeister, Daniel, Edward, Jean and Jane Frederick, Joan Ptacek and June Kosterman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George in 1976; her step-mother, Cecelia; her sister, Lorraine; her brother, Tom; and nephew, Robert.

A Mass of Christian burial for Bea will be at 11 a.m. on Friday July 2, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1709 Wyatt Ave., Stevens Point. The Rev. Dennis Stanchik will officiate. Burial will be in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Friends and relatives will gather to share memories from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
