Siegfried Twachtmann, 92


Siegfried August Rudolph Twachtmann, 92, of West Bend, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend.

He was born on Feb. 20, 1918, in Arpin, to the late Fred and Augusta (nee Oelke) Twachtmann. Siegfriedís father, Rudolph Timm, preceded him in death prior to his birth. Siegfried was united in marriage to the love of his life, Laura Effenheim, on July 5, 1947.

Siegfried was employed as a machinist for the Gehl Company for 43 years and was a long-time member of their Hexlebank Club. He was also a long-time member of St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Bend. Siegfried enjoyed bowling, fishing and reading newspapers from front to back. He was never without his hat or pipe and was known for his story telling of years gone by.

Siegfried is survived by his daughter, Judith (Roger) Rosenboom of West Bend; his three grandchildren, Brenda (Chris) Baer, Trevor (his significant other Tracy) Rosenboom and Travis Rosenboom, all of West Bend; and two great-grandchildren, Roman and Benjamin Baer, both of West Bend. Siegfried is further survived by two sisters, Esther (Clarence) Hornbagen and Sylvia Kinney; and many other dear relatives and close friends.

Siegfried was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Laura; his sisters, Lillian (Joe) Hernickle and Clara (Elmer) Chapman; his twin sister, Amanda (Carl) Nierode; and his brother, William (Bernice) Timm.

Funeral services in honor of Siegfried will be held on Tuesday, July 27, at 2:30 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home in West Bend. The Rev. Jerry Presuhn will officiate and burial will follow in Newark Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
