Frieda Witte, 76

Frieda (nee Schenkel) Witte of the town of Grafton passed away peacefully at home on Thursday July 22, 2010, at the age of 76.

Frieda was born in Thallichtenberg, Germany on March 16, 1934, to Wihlen and Karolina (nee Lorence) Schenkel, and married Earl Witte on July 26, 1975, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton.

Frieda was an avid gardener, had a green thumb, loved her flower beds and was proud of her strawberries and raspberries. She would often proudly display a vase of freshly cut flowers. If her flowers had faces, they would have been smiling. If anyone had a sick plant, Freida would nurse it back to life, often growing so large, that it looked more like a tree.  Between her and Earl, it was flower, berry and veggie heaven.

Frieda is survived by her husband, Earl of the town of Grafton; children, Gary (Karen) James of Minnesota, Glen (Cindy) James of Oconomowoc, Jean O’Neill of Texas, Joan (Mark) Cavender of Texas, Greg James of Mississippi,  Lynn (Pat) Green of Texas and Don Witte of West Bend. She is further survived by 18 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two sisters, two brothers, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday July 24, 2010, at First Immanuel Lutheran Church W67 N622 Evergreen Blvd., Cedarburg.  Interment will be at Zur Ruhe Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the church on Saturday at 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
