Heinz Gary Koester

Heinz Gary Koester went to go fishing with the Lord Friday, May 28, 2010, surrounded by his family.

Heinz was born in Milwaukee on Jan. 6, 1940, to Edgar and Cathrine (nee Miller) Koester. He was united in marriage to Sharon Lorenz on June 10, 1961, in Waukegan, Ill.

Heinz worked for Asplundh for 43 years, he enjoyed spending time with his family at their lake cottage and he was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Wayne (Cindy), Barbara (Larry) Schmidt, Teresa Koester-Mueller and Danielle Koester; three grandsons, Raymond Koester (fiancÚ Christina Bestul), Ethan Mueller and Riley Mueller; his sister, Rosemaire DeRosia; his brothers, Richard (Sue) Koester, Wayne (Jeanie) Koester and Raymond (Mary) Koester; and his sisters-in-law, Sandy (Richard) Nemetz and Pamela (John) Small. Heinz is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Hollie Jean; his parents; brothers, Edgar Koester and Lawrence (Hilda) Koester; and sister, Elaine Staszak.

Funeral services for Heinz will be held Thursday, June 3, at 7 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union St., Hartford, with the Rev. Doug Livingston officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
