Walter was born on Aug. 3, 1921, in Cedarburg, to Adolph Behling Sr. and Annie Kramer. He later married the love of his life, Mildred Keller, on June 2, 1943, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. Their marriage was blessed with three children.
Walter served his country as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II while being stationed in the South Pacific. He was a member of an anti-aircraft artillery battalion during his time overseas.
Walter was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, gardening and feeding his backyard birds. He especially enjoyed spending time at his youngest sonís hunting farm in Eau Claire. He also loved to cook and tinker in his garage. Walter was the owner/operator of his own construction company where he built homes in Cedarburg and the surrounding areas. He later went on to work for Meta-Mold and Mercury Marine as a foreman.
Walter is survived by his children, Greg (Virginia) Behling, Joan (John) Nolan, and Mark (Lee Ann) Behling; and grandchildren, Kristin (David) Ehlke, Matt Nolan, Dustin Behling and Cal Behling. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Mildred, two sisters, and six brothers. He will be dearly missed by his family but they rejoice in the fact that their parents have been reunited in Heaven.
Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg is serving the family.
