Vivian Lee Raybern


Vivian Lee Raybern, (nee Grothe), 86, of West Bend, passed away, Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center in West Bend.

She was born on Sept. 21, 1923 to the late Dewey and Amy (nee Parsons) Grothe in Eldorado, Wis. On Sept. 21, 1944, she was united in marriage to James Raybern in Corpus Christi, Texas. James preceded her in death on April 25, 1985.

Vivian served her country honorably in the Navy WAVE-Medical Corp. during WWII. She worked as a nursing assistant at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home in Fond du Lac, Bellin Hospital in Green Bay and at Cedar Lake Home in West Bend.

Vivian was a member of Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two children, Gary Raybern and Donna (David) Krutz, both of West Bend; four grandchildren, Crystal Raybern, Dion Raybern, Lisa Krutz and Holly Froh; two great-grandchildren, Ian Erbecker and Georgia Raybern; sisters Vyonne Bahrs of Oshkosh and Donna (Louis) Van den Boom of California; brother Robert Grothe of Red Granite; brother-in-law, Lesley Spencer of Kenosha; other relatives and friends.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and sister Beverly Spencer.

A funeral service in honor of Vivian will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 13 at Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St., West Bend. The Rev. Wesley Falk will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in the Star of Hope Mausoleum at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton.
