John E. Rotta, 63


John E. Rotta, 63, of Rubicon passed away Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital in Oconomowoc, WI. with his wife and daughters at his side.

John was born on July 26, 1946 in Hartford to William and Irene (nee Schmitt) Rotta. He was united in marriage to Shirley Weber on June 17, 1972 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Thompson, Wis.

During his life, John was a devoted husband, parent, foster parent and employee at Broan Manufacturing for more than 40 years. John served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1969, during the Vietnam War.

He enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, fishing, trapshooting and bowling. At the age of 18, he was the first person in Hartford to bowl a 300 game.

John was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Rubicon, the Hartford VFW Post 8834, Hartford Gun Club, and the Hustisford Gun Club. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
 
John is survived by his wife, Shirley Rotta of Rubicon; daughters Angela (Scott) Radschlag of Hartford, Barbara (Matthew) Gross of Rubicon, and Jenna (Terry) Fies of Neosho; grandchildren, Paityn Gross, Brighton Radschlag and Garrett Gross; and brother William Rotta of Hartford. He is further survived by many other family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Thomas, and his sister-in-law Kay Rotta.

Mass of Christian Burial for John will be held at 1p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at St. John Catholic Church, W1170 Rome Rd., Rubicon, with the Rev. David LaPlante officiating.

Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until the time of Mass at the church. Immediately following the Mass, a celebration will be held in Johnís honor. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society, the Hartford VFW Post or the National Rifle Association, are appreciated.
