James ‘Roger’ Callahan, 74

James "Roger" Callahan, 74, passed away at his Mequon home on June 16, 2010, with Donna, his wife of 50 years, at his side.

He was the wonderful father of Cheri Walter, Carrie (Tom) Ellis, Keith (Elizabeth) Callahan, and Kevin Callahan as well as grandfather of Thomas and Samantha Walter, Andrew and Alex Ellis, and Nicholas and Sean Callahan, all who will miss him dearly.

He was born on Nov. 2, 1935, in La Crosse and raised in Montana and North Dakota. While serving in the Air Force, Roger began his career in air traffic control and spent 35 years working in Detroit and Muskegon, Mich., Milwaukee, and finally retiring in 1990 as the air traffic control manager in Madison.

Roger enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling with his wife, attending all sporting events of his kids and grandchildren, golfing with friends, weekly breakfast outings and stopping by just to chat – and those that knew him knew he loved to chat.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Aurora Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) of Wisconsin are appreciated, and special thanks is extended to them for the loving hospice care they provided to Roger.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Schramka-Densow Funeral Home in Thiensville, with a short service following.
