Rita Ann ‘Snookie’ Bauer

Rita Ann "Snookie" Bauer (nee Deutsch), my precious wife, died in my arms from cancer on June 16, 2010, at 3:15 a.m. at Kathy Hospice in West Bend.

She was born in Hartford on June 25, 1921, to Adolph and Josephine (nee Nussbaum) Deutsch and would have been 89. We had a wonderful marriage for 65 years and together built a business serving medical meetings worldwide.

She is survived by her husband, Earl J. Bauer Sr.; children, Barbara Ann Bauer Hale and Earl Bauer II; grandchildren, Zachery (Sara) Hale, Tracy Allison Hale, William Earl Bauer (mother, Meg Oates Bauer), and nieces and nephews. She is further survived by a sister, Irene "Dux" Hobien of Hazelhurst.

Rita is preceded in death by a brother, Oscar Deutsch; sisters, Helene Noble, Catherine Doyle Jaeger and Cecilia Regan.

Snookie will be long remembered for her beautiful smile and warmth. Her ashes will be taken to Dallas for a memorial service and placed in the columbarium at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church at a later date.

The Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend is assisting the family. www.phillipfuneralhome.com

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Gary and Pammie Herdrich, Paul and David Doyle and Dr. Damien Doyle, who stood by for endless hours of support. They would also like to thank the staff at the Kathy Hospice that eased the pain and comforted us in her final days.
