Allen J. Janz, 76


Allen J. Janz, 76, of Eagle River, formerly of West Bend, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2010, at the Seasons of Life Hospice in Eagle River.

Allen was born on July 11, 1933, in West Bend to John and Olive (nee Rate) Janz. He graduated from West Bend High School in the class of 1951. Allen served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the time of the Korean War. On July 24, 1954, he was united in marriage to Ruth Ihlenfeld at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in West Bend.

Allen and Ruth owned and operated Janz Liquor in West Bend for almost 30 years. After moving to Eagle River they started Sweet Sensations Ice Cream in Three Lakes. He was a former member of St. Johnís in West Bend and a current member of Our Saviorís Lutheran Church in Eagle River. Allen was also a member of American Legion Post No. 0431 in Three Lakes

He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Eagle River; his two children, Michael Janz of West Bend and Michelle Janz of Eagle River; three sisters-in-law, Lucille Janz of West Bend, Donna Beistle of St. Lawrence and Berdell Orlebeke of Sussex; one brother-in-law, Robert (Mary) Ihlenfeld of Allenton; other relatives and friends.

Allen is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Joseph Janz; and two brothers, Floyd and Lester.

Funeral services in remembrance of Allen will be held on Wednesday, June 30, at 2:30 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St., West Bend, with the Rev. Guy Roberts officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home until the time of the service. Burial in Washington County Memorial Park will immediately follow the service.
