Elizabeth L. “Betty” Wilde


Elizabeth L. “Betty” Wilde, 80, passed away in the early morning on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility in Plymouth where she had been a resi
dent for the past 2 years.

Betty was born on Jan. 11, 1930 in West Bend, a daughter of the late Berthold and Ethel May Corbett Wendelborn. She attended West Bend Grade Schools and graduated from West Bend High School in 1948. Betty worked at the West Bend Hospital for a short time. On Jan. 6, 1951, she married Richard Wilde at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend.

The couple has resided in Port Washington, Random Lake and, since 1976, in Plymouth.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth and belonged to the Kettle Country Quilters. Betty loved to garden, enjoyed canning in many different ways, genealogy, fishing, hunting with her husband and spending time with her family. For many years, she sold produce and her quilted items at the Elkhart Lake Farmers Market. She also received many awards at the Sheboygan County Fair for her quilted and canning items. Betty was an avid Packers fan and she would put on Packer parties with grandson John and his friends at her home. Even when she entered Rocky Knoll, that tradition was kept going for all the Packer games.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Richard of Plymouth; one son, John (Karen) Wilde of Plymouth; four grandchildren, Jason (Katie) Kleckner of West Allis, Jennifer Wilde of Plymouth, Justin Kleckner of Pewaukee and John Wilde Jr. (Beth) of Plymouth; one great-grandson, Kameron Kleckner; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Joseph and Chloe Bell; two sisters, Beverly Krell of Allenton and Mary (Marvin) Ostrander of Campbellsport; two sister-in-laws, Jeaneet Debano of Phelps and Bonnie Wendelborn of Kewaskum. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Christine Marie Wilde; her motherand father-in-law, Lorraine and Arthur Wilde; one brother, Ronald Wendelborn; and one sister, Anita Bresette.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at 6 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. The Very Rev. Dennis Van Beek, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the time of services.

A memorial fund is being established in her name.
