Henry T. ‘Hank’ Goetz, 90
Henry T. "Hank" Goetz, 90, of West Bend, died on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010.
He was born on Dec. 19, 1919, to Henry and Anna (nee Jacobs) Goetz and grew up in the town of Mayfield.
After his graduation from West Bend High School he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served four and a half years in the South Pacific. After his discharge he returned to Wisconsin where he met and married Helen C. Marx on Oct. 2, 1948, at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was employed with the Washington County Highway Department where he worked until his retirement.
He enjoyed many activities including gardening, fishing, hunting, bowling and golf. He was a sports fanatic and followed closely the Packers, Brewers and Bucks. He was a handyman around the house and liked woodworking.
He will be greatly missed by two daughters, Patricia McNurlan of Eldersburg, Md., and Susan Goetz Ferris of Sun Prairie; three grandchildren, Paul (Marie) McNurlan of Queenstown, Md., and Caitlin and Matthew Ferris of Sun Prairie; a great-grandson, Riley Henry McNurlan of Queenstown, Md.; two sisters, Stella Fisher of Santa Ana, Calif., and Beatrice Reis of Mayfield; a brother-in-law, Joe (Gertrude) Marx of Kewaskum; and a sister-in-law, Louise Marx of Barton; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; brother, Ver; and three sisters, Leona Lenz, Loretta Monroe and Doris Present.
Visitation will be at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend on Sunday, March 7, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., with a reception to follow. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, March 8, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Angels Cemetery with military honors.
