Norbert P. ‘Chief’ Wickman

Norbert P. "Chief" Wickman, 75, of West Bend, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010, at St. Luke’s Medical Center.

Norbert was born on March 26, 1934, to August and Nora (nee Berg) Wickman in Hartford. He grew up in West Bend, played football, ran track and field and graduated from Badger High School in 1953. Norbert married Rose (nee Gengler) on Oct. 30, 1953, at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church in Barton and began their family. He was employed for 45 years at the West Bend Co., retiring in 1999. Norbert was also a volunteer firefighter for West Bend for many years. After retiring, he enjoyed gardening, yard work, keeping his cars shiny, was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sports and the Green Bay Packers, but he loved most spending time with his children and grandchildren. Norbert was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 1398 for over 50 years, KC Member Council No. 1964, and St. Joseph Holy Name Society.

Norbert is survived by his wife, Rose; daughters, Jacalyn (Jeffrey) Flack of Crystal Lake, Ill., Beverly (George) Reuter of Houston, Texas, Connie (William) Cox of Germantown and Kelly (Timothy) Sackett of Germantown. He is further survived by g r a n d ch i l d re n , Kathryn, Ryan and Brandyn Flack, Kevin and Kyle Reuter, Ashley, Gregory and Tyler Cox, Taylor, Colin and Payton Sackett; sister, Dolores Weber of Hartford; sisters in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Phyllis Gagan; and brothers-in-law, niece and nephew.

A Mass of Christian burial will be on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at 7 p.m. at Holy Angel’s Catholic Church in West Bend. Interment will take place at Washington Co. Memorial Park on Wednesday, March 10 at 10 a.m. Visitation will be at the church only on Tuesday, March 9, from 4 p.m. until the time of Mass.
