Alvin D. Wiedmeyer, 79, of Mayville, formerly of the town of Richfield and Slinger, died on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mayville.
He was born on June 17, 1930, in Richfield to the late John and Julia (nee Barbian) Wiedmeyer. In addition to running the family farm, he owned and operated Wiedmeyer and Sons Trucking, a cattle hauling business he purchased in the early 1960s. After his retirement in the late 1990s, Alvin moved to Slinger, where he lived until becoming a resident at the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Survivors include two children, Alvin J. of Slinger and Mark (special friend Chris Lucek) of Knowles; one grandson, Travis; one brother, Ralph (Dianne) of Cedar Lake; one sister Bernice Kohl of Slinger; dear friends David and Kaye Rohde of Hartford; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Scott; a sister, Theresa Hammen; and two brothers-in-law, Earl Hammen and Gene Kohl.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 13, at 4:30 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in Jackson with Chaplain Cheryl Matusiak officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be at a later date in Union Cemetery, Slinger. The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:30 p.m. until 4:15 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials for the benefit of the family are appreciated.
