Germaine K. Schneider


Germaine K. Schneider (nee Lucas) of Milwaukee, formerly of West Bend, was born to Eternal Life on Sunday, March 14, 2010.

She was born on Oct. 30, 1911, in Milwaukee to the late Harry and Frances (nee Kriegelstein) Lucas.

She attended schools in Milwaukee, Plymouth and West Bend. In addition to teaching dancing for five years, she also attended night classes at Marquette University for four years. On June 30, 1930, she began working at B.C. Ziegler and Company, holding various positions. She was a department manager for the Institutional Bond department and was a custodian of the vault.

On Sept. 11, 1948, she was united in marriage to Carl J. Schneider at Holy Angels Church in West Bend. Carl predeceased April 29, 1975.

For the past seven years, Germaine has been a resident of Alexian Village in Milwaukee.

She was an active member of Holy Angels Parish for more than 50 years. Her interests included being a member of the choir, the Christian Women’s Confraternity, the Mission Society, the Good Samaritan Guild, the Apostolate of Suffering and the Legion of Mary. In addition to her church activities, she was also active with the West Bend Fine Arts Gallery, Citizens for Decency Through Law and the Washington County Senior Citizens.

Survivors include a niece, Marie Frings of West Bend; cousins, Jeanette Becker of Two Rivers, Robert F. Kirst of Glendale and Dorothy Schaefer of Milwaukee; her God-children, Gail Anderson-Pilsner of Prentice, Michael Ourada of Little Chute, David Meidl of West Bend and Susan Klein of West Bend; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a cousin, Carlton P. Kirst.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, March 19, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church with burial following in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at the church only on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.
