Edward A. Oehme, 80

Edward A. Oehme, 80, of Fredonia, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at his home.

Ed was born on October 13, 1929, in West Bend to Paul and Martha (nee Wiese) Oehme. He graduated from Random Lake High School, class of 1947. Ed entered the U.S. Army and served in Korea.  He married Esther (nee Koepsell) on May 11, 1968, at Immanuel Lutheran Church (River Church) in Mayville.

Ed enjoyed building homes and designing them.  He loved boating, fishing, woodworking, making birdhouses, cutting cancelled stamps for missions, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. Ed enjoyed volunteering at St. Andrew Lutheran Church where he served as an elder and trustee. He was also a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.  He will be missed by many.

Ed is survived by his loving wife, Esther; children, Mark (Deb) of Kewaskum, John (Ellene) of Morrisonville, Ruth of Grafton, Paul (Rhonda) of Minnetonka, Minn., and Scot of Grafton. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Mitchell, Isabella and Molly; brother, Robert (Verna) of Fredonia; sister-in-law, Gertrude Puls of Menomonee Falls; brother-in-law, Donald (Sharon) Koepsell of Mayville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, and a brother-in-law, Charles Puls.

A funeral service was on Sunday, March 21, 2010, at 3 p.m. at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 7750 N. Highway 144, West Bend, with the Rev Robert A. Korytkowski officiating.  Interment took place on Monday, March 22, at Hochheim Cemetery in Mayville. Visitation was at the church on Sunday, March 21, from 1 p.m. until the time of the 3 p.m. service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Andrew Debt Retirement Fund or Lutherans for Life in Edís name.
