Gladys C. Hoerchner

Gladys C. Hoerchner (nee Vogel) of Jackson passed away Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Kathy Hospice.

Gladys was born on Oct. 1, 1931, to Arthur and Erna (nee Krause) Vogel in Jackson. She helped raise her nieces and nephews and also worked several jobs before starting her career at Badger Meter. Gladys married Allen E. Hoerchner on Jan. 21, 1955, and were married for 55 years. He preceded her in death on March 3, 2010. She enjoyed watching and feeding all kinds of birds – especially cardinals – chasing squirrels away from the bird feeders, growing pansies in her flower garden, baking – especially making her famous potato salad – and of course playing sheepshead. She was a member of the Jackson Senior Center.
Gladys is survived her children, John, Jim (Sheri), Judy (Gilbert) Luebbe, Janice (Paul) Filber and Mark. She is further survived by 12 grandchildren, Dawn (Pat) Prescott, Carrie (Tony) Ovalle, Jeff (special friend, Lynn), Clint (fiancé, Heather) Luebbe, Jenny (Jon) Dietz, Thomas Luebbe, Jason, Marie, Joel and Ella Hoerchner, Emily and Madisyn Filber; 15 g re at - g r a n d ch i l d re n ; Shayla, Evie, Dayton, Daysha, Kaiden, Zack, Xaver, Nolan, Josephine, Diego, Oliver, Kimora, Jada, Joaquin and Stella; sisters, Ethel Miller and Mary Spiekerman; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Gayle (Paul) Gumm, Donald (Barbara) Hoerchner and Audrey (special friend, Jim) Hoerchner; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen; son, Edward; sister, Lauretta Retzlaff; brothers in-law, Earl Retzlaff, Dale Spiekerman, Oscar Miller, Wayne Hoerchner and Anthony Schleiben.

A funeral service for Gladys will be held Friday, April 2, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Mellon presiding. Visitation will be on Friday, April 2, at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until time of service. Interment will take place at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 3, at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg.

Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church in Jackson, Jackson Boys and Girls Club or Kathy Hospice are appreciated.
