Violet H. Schaetz, 93
Violet H. Schaetz (nee Bergelin), 93, of West Bend, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at St. Josephís Hospital, West Bend.
She was born Nov. 26, 1916, in Kewaunee, to the late Fred and Ernestine (nee Kitzerow) Bergelin. She married Louis J. Schaetz on Nov. 24, 1938, at St. Maryís Catholic Church, Glenmore. She farmed with her husband until his death on March 28, 1966. Violet then went to work at Preble School and Bellin Hospital. She later worked at Konop Vending/Heritage Food for many years, until retiring at the age of 77. In 1998 she moved from Green Bay to West Bend, where she enjoyed living at River Bend Senior Village. She also enjoyed crafts and sewing. She was a member of St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Bend.
She is survived by her son, Allen (Vivian) Schaetz of West Bend; three grandchildren, Lynn (Dave) McMullin of Novi, Mich., James (Gwen) Schaetz of Lebanon, Tenn., and Thomas (Andrea) Schaetz of West Bend; eight great-grandchildren, Troy McMullin, Tyler McMullin, August Schaetz, Mary Schaetz, Morgan Schaetz, Elijah Schaetz, Melina Schaetz, and Alexander Schaetz; a sister, Erna Lorberblatt of Green Bay; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Bergelin of Green Bay; a Godchild, Susan Krawczyk of Green Bay; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Marilyn Schaetz, a son, James Schaetz, four sisters, Lenora Bergelin, Ruth Bergelin, Roselyn Bergelin, and Gertrude (Edward) Siebold; two brothers, Orville Bergelin and Gerhart (Ann) Bergelin; and a brother-in-law, Edward Lorberblatt.
Funeral services in remembrance of Violet will be held on Monday, May 10, at 3:30 p.m. at St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church, West Bend, with the Rev. Guy Roberts officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services. Burial will be on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in St. Maryís Church Cemetery, Glenmore.
