Hildegard E. Liebherr, 85

Mrs. Hildegard E. Liebherr, of Port Washington and formerly of Milwaukee and southern Ozaukee County,  passed away Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 26, 2010, at Harbor Club where she had resided. She was two days short of her 86th birthday.

Hildegard was born Oct. 28, 1924 in Thalheim, Germany, the daughter of Max and Elsie Schwind Lorenz. On Sept. 29, 1945, she was united in marriage with Harold Liebherr at Lake Charles, La. He preceded her in death in 1989.
Mrs. Liebherr was an avid bird lover, and a founding member of the Wisconsin Society of Ornithology. She participated locally with the Manchesterís Weavers in Grafton, was an avid photographer and painter, and was a longtime supporter of the Milwaukee Symphony. She enjoyed being a docent at Riveredge Nature Center.

She is survived by her son, Dr. James (Dr. Ann Hajek) Liebherr of Ithaca, N.Y.; and grandchildren, Gretchen (Roger) Powell, Lisa Liebherr and Jonathan Liebherr. She is further survived by great-granddaughters, Armella and Sophia Powell; brother-in-law, Kenneth Liebherr of Lake Tomahawk; a niece and a nephew, other relatives and friends.
