Wayne A. Wolf, 78
Wayne A. Wolf, 78, of Jackson, died Monday,
Nov. 1, 2010, at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee.
He was born March 31, 1932, in West Bend to the late Anthony and Dolores
(nee Held-Gonring) Wolf and married Mary Plavec on June 27, 1959, at Holy
Angels Catholic Church in West Bend.
Wayne attended Holy Angels School and West Bend High School. He entered
the U.S. Army and served in Japan following World War II. After his
discharge he worked at Amity Leather Products before working for Culligan
Water for 24 years. He then purchased a resort in Minocqua and operated it
with his wife for seven years until they moved to Prescott, Ariz. He
worked at the VA Hospital in Prescott for 12 years until he retired and
moved back to Wisconsin.
He was a proud 4th Degree member of the Knight’s of Columbus Council
1032 in Prescott, Ariz., and also the Our Lady of Holy Hill Assembly 1677.
Wayne loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed stamp collecting. He and Mary
enjoyed camping and were involved in interfaith camping.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary; his three children,
Judith Mary Wolf of Fort Atkinson, Alan Wayne (Amie) of Hollywood, Md.,
and Kathryn Ann (Mike) Virgil of Fort Atkinson; and three grandchildren,
Jennifer Wolf of San Diego, Calif., Jason Virgil of Fort Atkinson and
Jessie Virgil of Jefferson. He is further survived by two brothers, Denis
Wolf of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Jim (Lynn) of Sarasota, Fla.; his
sister, Diane (Orville) Burtard of Theresa; brothers-in-law and
sisters-in-law, Leona McFarlane of Geska, Minn., Joan Plavec of West Bend,
Darlene Plavec of West Bend, James (Mary) Plavec of Berlin, Gladys Zinske
of Chanhassen, Minn., and Mike (Mary) Plavec of West Bend; nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. at St.
Peter’s Catholic Church in Slinger with the Rev. Richard Stoffel
presiding. Inurnment will be in Washington County Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Thursday, at the church only from 4 p.m. until 6:45
p.m.

Our Lady of Holy Hill Assembly 1677 Knight’s of Columbus.
