Constance ‘Connie’ Smith, 56

Constance "Connie" Smith (nee Bath), 56, of Slinger, passed away comfortably after a short battle with astrocytoma on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at Kathy Hospice in West Bend.

Connie was born of April 14, 1954, in Milwaukee, to Stanley and Genevieve (nee Werkowski) Bath. Connie was united in marriage to David "Dave" E. Smith on April 22, 1975, in Milwaukee.

Connie spent the last 20 years as a skilled RN at St. Joseph’s Hospital in West Bend and Froedtert Memorial in Milwaukee, doing all she could to help those in need. Connie loved the outdoors and spent many years camping, hiking and roasting marshmallows over the fire. She was an avid gardener, developing a massive flower garden at her Slinger home. She became a skilled machine quilter through the years. She loved dogs throughout all her life, pampering them and caring so deeply.

Connie will be especially remembered for her strong will, kind heart and her love and devotion to her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Dave; her daughter, Anne (Kevin) Brehmer; her newborn grandchild, Claire Constance; her mother, G e n ev i eve Marcella Werkowski; her brothers, John (Geri) Bath and Tom Bath; her nephews, Eric (Brenda), Chris (Chris) and Andy (Aleta); and countless relatives; wonderful co-workers; and dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her father, Stanley Henry Bath; and brother-in-law, Paul Smith.

A celebration of Connie’s life will be held on Thursday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union St., Hartford, with the Rev. Jay Fischer officiating. The family will greet family and friends on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
