Mark Arthur Hirsch, 46


Mark Arthur Hirsch, 46, of Grand Island, Neb., died Nov. 15, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital.

He was born on May 22, 1964, in Norfolk, Neb., to Eldon and Gwen (nee Rauschke) Hirsch. He grew up in New Ulm, Minn., and Prairie du Chien. He received his education St. Paulís Lutheran Grade School in New Ulm, Minn., Martin Luther Preparatory School in Prairie du Chien and Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minn. He was united in marriage to Yvonda Beaudin on June 25, 1988, in Prairie du Chien. After their marriage, the couple lived in Stanton, Neb., Jackson and Grand Island, Neb., where he taught Christian education for 18 years. Most recently he was employed by The Amish Furniture Store in Grand Island. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Grand Island.

His love for children and teaching them about their Savior was of great importance to him. He shared that love of Christ and education through teaching and coaching a variety of levels and sports. His passion for education was present in all he did and at the time of his death was pursuing a masters degree in counseling troubled young adults. He will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends he has made throughout his young life.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonda; children, Bailey, Hannah, Madysen, Clayton and Caleb; parents, Eldon and Gwen Hirsch of Winona, Minn.; brothers, Philip (Kristi) Hirsch of Manhattan, Kan., and their seven children; and Paul (Jodi) Hirsch of Juneau, and their three children; sisters, Kristine (Kurt) Swogger of Winona, Minn., and their three married children; and Kathy (Norv) Kock of Saginaw, Mich., and their three married children.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Funeral services will be Nov. 19, at 11 a.m. at Nebraska Lutheran High School in Waco, Neb., with the Rev. Norv Kock officiating.

Memorials are suggested to Nebraska Lutheran High School.
