Rudolph H. “Rudy” Rackow
Rudolph H. “Rudy” Rackow, 91, Mayville, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.
Rudy was born on July 26, 1919, in Mayville, to Gustav and Freida (nee Ortmann) Rackow. Rudy was united in marriage to Lorraine Weginger on Nov. 16, 1940, in Mayville.
Rudy was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mayville. Rudy worked at Gardner Manufacturing for 43 years until his retirement in 1978.
Rudy served his country in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 10170 and the Mayville American Legion Post No. 69. He was also a member of the Mayville Historical Society, Wings Over Wisconsin and the Mayville Booster Club. Rudy was a longtime member of the Greenhead Hunting Club for 40 years. He also was a member of the Horicon Marsh International Education Center. Rudy also loved to coach girls softball in Mayville for many years.
Rudy is survived by his daughters, Betty Ann (Jerry) Voy of Horicon, Judee Triggs of West Bend, Jeanne (Robert) Vollmer of Mayville and Joyce Baierl of Mayville; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorraine; three sisters, Evelyn Sorgent, Dorothy Musack and Gertrude Kuehl; and a brother, William.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 27, at noon at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Mayville, with the Rev. Sam Jackson officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 27 from 10 a.m. to noon at the church in Mayville. Military rites will be conducted by the Mayville American Legion Post No. 69.Inurnment will take place at the Graceland Cemetery, Mayville.
Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church or St. Agnes Hospice.
