Vernon ‘Vern’ Holley, 82

Vernon "Vern" Holley, 82, of West Bend, passed away peacefully at Cedar Campus on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010.

Vern was born on Feb. 27, 1928, in Paris, Texas, to James and Myrtle (nee Autry) Holley. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and served in Korea in 1956. On Sept. 24, 1988, Vern married LaVira "Vi" (nee Leigh) at the Wedding Chapel in Waukesha. A reception was held at the Riverbend Clubhouse in Germantown. Vern retired from Bentley and Sons construction in Milwaukee after working 50 years in the construction industry.

Vern is survived by his wife, LaVira "Vi"; sister, Christine Bryan of Denison, Texas; daughters, Vicki (Bobby) Hatfield of McKinney, Texas, and Nickie (Brian) Troxell of Van Alstyne, Texas; and half-brother, Louis (Faye) Jackson on Commerce, Texas. He was a special father to Christine (Russell) Madsen of Wisconsin Rapids, Randal (Michelle) Leigh of Iron Ridge and Kenneth (Cathy) Leigh of Hales Corners; four grandchildren in Texas; 11 special grandchildren in Wisconsin and 13 great-grandchildren.

Vern was preceded in death by his parents; twin sister, Vera of Texas; and daughter, Susan of Menomonee Falls.

A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1, at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend with the Rev. Mark Trinkl of Community Church presiding. Interment will take place at Ashippun Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 1, from 11 a.m. until time of service.

The Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend is assisting the family.
