David Larry Reader, 71
David Larry Reader, 71, of Fillmore, passed
away on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010.
He was born on July 4, 1939, to the late George and Dorothy (nee Williams)
Reader. On Oct. 20, 1962, David was united in marriage to Dona R. (nee
Mueller) Reader in Little Kohler. David graduated from Rhinelander High
School in 1958. Shortly after, he moved to Fillmore and began working at
Gehl Co., where he remained until his retirement in 2004. David was a
member of Fillmore Sportsmen Club to which he donated many hours and years
of service; Fillmore Turners, Farmington Athletic Club and a life-long
member of NRA. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed many deer seasons in
Northern WI. He also enjoyed fishing whether it was in Canada or on Lake
Michigan. David was an active trap shooter even in his last years.
David is survived by his four daughters, Chris (David Woodward) Meyer of
Harshaw, Kathy (Nick) Roach of South Carolina, Mary (Joseph) Rudis of
Harshaw, and Cindy (Ron) Trepes of Fillmore; 10 grandchildren, Jenny (DJ)
Neumann, Jeremiah, Julia and Jamie Meyer, Megan and Taylor Roach, Nathan
and Logan Rudis, Taylor and Breana Trepes; three great-grandchildren,
Colby, Tessa and Kevin. He is also survived by his two brothers-in-law,
Fred Janz of Ashland and Keith (Brenda) Mueller of Beechwood; nephew John
Mueller and nieces Tiffany and Brittany Mueller. David is further survived
by his special pet and companion Nate, his Brittney Spaniel.
David is preceded in death by his parents, George and Dorothy Reader; wife
Dona and sister Eileen Janz.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at 6 p.m. at
Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend with Chaplain David Stone
presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, Oct. 6,
2010, from 4 p.m. until the time of service (6 p.m.). There will also be a
funeral service at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, at Nativity of Our
Lord, 1350 N. Stevens St., Rhinelander, WI 54501) with Fr. Gerritts
presiding. Visitation will be at the church only from 2 p.m. until time of
service (3 p.m.). Interment will take place following the service on at
Union Grove Cemetery in Harshaw.
