Mollie A. Kaliebe, 96
Mollie
A. Kaliebe (nee Koepke), 96, a long-time resident of West Bend, passed
away at her home on Monday, Oct. 18, 2010.
Mollie was born on Oct. 17, 1914, to Albert and Emelie (nee Born) Koepke
in Oconomowoc. Mollie worked on her family1s dairy farm before graduating
from Oconomowoc High School. She met her husband, Oscar Kaliebe, at a
church social. The two were married and settled in West Bend, where they
ran Oscar1s Shoe Service for several decades.
Mollie was a dedicated member of St. John1s Lutheran Church, where she
volunteered with the St. John1s Guild in its annual apple kuchen
fundraiser. She enjoyed gardening in her free time.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be remembered for her
work ethic (one of her favorite sayings was "do your best, you can do
no better"), her calm demeanor, her sense of humor and her enjoyment
of life.
She is survived by children, Ken (Nancy) Kaliebe of Tampa, Fla., Karen
Retzer of Waubeka, and Ron (Carol) Kaliebe of Edina, Minn. She is also
survived by grandchildren, Karl, Kristopher, Laura and Mollie; and
great-grandchildren, Lydia and Greta.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar; brothers, Harvey, Hilbert
and Harry; and sisters, Anne and Mabel.
A funeral service for Mollie will be at noon on Friday, Oct. 22, at St.
John1s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 809 S. 6th Ave., West Bend, with the
Rev. Jerry Presuhn presiding. Visitation will be at the church only from
10 a.m. until time of service. Interment to take place at the Lutheran
Cemetery in Watertown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. John1s Lutheran
School.
